Sachets are small, flat, sealed packets designed for single-use portions. They are the most economical packaging format for sampling, travel sizes, and individual servings. Sachets excel at protecting sensitive products like pharmaceuticals and cosmetics in precise doses.
How a multi-lane sachet machine works
A 4-side seal sachet machine doses product between layers of heat-sealable film, seals all four edges, and cuts the sachets apart. PSG SOMA's sachet machines run several lanes side by side — 2 to 8 on the SM-200 and SM-300 — and each lane makes 15 to 40 sachets a minute, so an eight-lane machine produces up to 320 sachets a minute.
Liquid or dry product
The SM-200 fills liquids such as sauces, oils, and shampoos from 1 to 100 ml. The SM-300 handles granules, powders, and pills, dosing powders from 0.5 to 40 g. Both make sachets 30 to 100 mm wide and 35 to 160 mm long, and fill amount and speed can be adjusted while the machine runs, with real-time monitoring on the control panel.
Sachet or stick pack?
Both are single-serve formats. A flat sachet gives a larger printable face and suits sauces, creams, and samples that are squeezed out, while a narrow stick pack uses less film per dose and pours cleanly, which is why it is common for drink mixes, sugar, and powdered supplements. PSG SOMA builds both, so one partner can quote either format.
Safety and line integration
Interlocks cover the safety door, target counts, eye-mark registration, product detection, and film detection, and a custom alignment device lets the machine feed manual or automatic packing lines. Downstream, RADPAK's RGT-60 counts sachets into display trays at up to 10 trays a minute.
