Tube packaging is designed for semi-viscous products that need controlled dispensing. Available in plastic, aluminum, and laminate materials, tubes offer excellent product protection and consumer convenience. They are the standard for personal care, pharmaceutical, and food paste products.
How a tube filler works
Empty tubes are loaded open end up and carried through the machine in holders. The filler turns each tube to line up its print, doses the product through a nozzle, then seals and trims the open end — by hot air or ultrasonics on TGM machines — and ejects the finished tube.
Matching the machine to your volume
TGM's range covers most volumes. The E250 Semi, with manual tube loading, runs up to 2,500 tubes an hour for small batches and contract packing. The fully automatic E250 Matic and S400 reach 3,700 and 4,400 tubes an hour, and the T240 works three tubes at a time for up to 14,000 tubes an hour on large production runs.
Tube sizes and materials
All four machines take plastic, laminate, and aluminum tubes 50 to 240 mm long. Diameters run from 10 to 50 mm on the E250 models (up to 42 mm for metal tubes on the E250 Matic), up to 60 mm for plastic tubes on the S400, and 10 to 40 mm on the T240. Quick format changeover on every model keeps downtime short when you switch tube size or product.
What tubes are used for
Tubes protect creams, gels, and pastes from air and contamination and dispense them in controlled amounts, which is why they are the standard for toothpaste, pharmaceutical ointments, cosmetic creams, food pastes, and adhesives. Hot-fill and very viscous products can change the dosing setup, so include your product's viscosity and fill temperature when you ask for a quote.
