An automatic checkweigher weighs every pack as it moves down the line and rejects anything outside your limits, protecting you from short-weight penalties and from giving product away.
What a checkweigher does
A checkweigher weighs each package on a moving belt, compares it with your target weight and tolerance, and rejects packs outside the limits. It catches short fills, overfills, missing items, and doubles, and it records every weight so you can see how your filler is performing across a shift.
It protects you in two directions: underweight packs never reach customers or inspectors, and the weight data shows how much product you are giving away to stay on the safe side.
Why weight control pays
Packaged goods have to meet the net quantity on the label. In the U.S., weights and measures inspectors check net contents using NIST Handbook 133, and Europe's average-quantity system, marked by the ℮ symbol on packs, works in a similar way. Short-weight lots can mean fines, relabeling, or product pulled from shelves.
Overfilling costs more quietly. Giving away an extra 5 g on every pack of a line running 60 packs a minute adds up to about 18 kg of product an hour. With a checkweigher watching every pack, you can bring the filler's target weight closer to the label with confidence.
Sizing a checkweigher
Start with your lightest and heaviest packs, the accuracy you need, and your line speed. The PSG NOW NWC3000 Series covers 3 g to 60 kg depending on the model, with accuracy from ±0.15 g to ±40 g, up to 250 packs a minute, and belt speeds up to 84 m/min. It is rated IP65, with IP69K available for high-pressure washdown.

Checkweighing and metal detection in one footprint
Many lines need both checks at the end of packaging, and a combination unit saves floor space and a transfer. The NCB 450/490 Combi weighs 5 g to 3 kg while detecting ferrous metal down to 0.5 mm. The NWC3000 Combi pairs NWC3000-150 to -300 checkweighers with detector tunnels from 250 to 400 mm. The NAD4000 Composite combines foil-capable metal detection with checkweighing for aluminum-packed products.
