SGE Robotica has developed a vision system based on the detection of the products' precise position — products can arrive randomly and not oriented — a high-speed robotic picking system is used (generally single picking) to accurately place products correctly. This avoids the general complexities of traditional mechanical systems which normally require adjustment and format parts for changeover. Advantages include quick, safe and repeatable changeover, flexibility, and higher efficiency.
Delta (tripod) or SCARA robots each pick up to 150 products a minute, up to six robots can share one line, and placement accuracy is ±0.5 mm. Vacuum cups, needle grippers or soft grippers suit anything from rigid packs to delicate products, and changeovers take under ten minutes.
